We are constantly talking to our customers about how they use their TalkTalk services. Not only does this help us improve customer experience, but it also gives us insights into potentially new and exciting services.
In our latest research we asked customers what factors they thought impacted the speed of their broadband connection – I think some of the results are worth sharing…

Not surprisingly, most people understood that “external” factors, such as distance from the exchange, quality of the line, etc. can influence the maximum speed your broadband connection can achieve. The good news, as Charles mentioned in his recent post, is that we are working hard to improve a number of these external factors – for example, by increasing network capacity.
However, what caught my eye was the lack of awareness regarding “in-home” factors that can have a significant impact on the quality of your broadband experience. For example, very few people appreciated that the number of telephone sockets in your house and quality of your in-home wiring can detrimentally impact your broadband speeds.
Every home is unique, so it is difficult to provide a one-size-fits-all solution on how to improve your in-home set up. We are currently working on some new products and services that will help with this task, but in the meantime here are some simple tips on how to get the most out of your broadband connection:
Most of these fixes are easy to carry out yourself, but if you feel you need a hand getting your in-home set-up just so, then our colleagues at the Geek Squad have an in-home visit service.
