Free local phone calls, so you can talk and talk
It might come as a surprise to some people, but 70% of all the UK calls our customers make are to local numbers. So we’ve recently reviewed our pricing to reflect this and give our customers a better deal.
What we’ve created is a new pricing plan for home phone customers, which will offer them free local calls, any time of the day or night, at any time of the week.
So from May 1st 2009 all new TalkTalk customers will be able to benefit from free local calls. And from June 2nd, we’re extending the deal to enable customers to make free calls to all 0845 and 0870 numbers.
We think this will give a significant boost to our customers who want to keep in touch with their neighbours, friends and local services. In fact, combined with no charges for calls to 0845/0870 numbers, it means up to 90% of our customers’ calls will be made for free.
We know that everyone is looking for a good deal given the current economic climate, so we hope that free calls can play its part in keeping people’s costs down.
As part of our pricing review we’ve increased our standard line rental charges to £11.25 a month, taking effect from mid-April 2009 – this in line with BT’s latest line rental increase. You can get the full low down about the price changes on our website: www.talktalk.co.uk/pricechanges
As always, if you have any questions about this particular announcement, please feel free to leave a comment. And have a think about how many friends, family, colleagues and contacts live locally to you. Is it more or less than 70%? You may be surprised!
Re: Free local phone calls, so you can talk and talk
Having just contact talktalk customer services by email, the blog is incorrect. FREE local calls are not now available to ALL TALKTALK CUSTOMERS. They are only "free" if you pay for the new £6.49 tarrif with more expensive "boosters".
As a broadband customer with Talk international evening and weekend for £5.89 per month, the free calls do not, as stated above, apply!!! And to add insult to injury, I would have to pay £4 for boosters in place of the £2.50 I currently pay.
Inbrief, this offer of "free" calls is misleading and untrue.

Re: Free local phone calls, so you can talk and talk
Hi and thanks for your comment. Free local calls are available for Essentials customers - who get their phone and broadband from us - as well as our voice-only customers on the Talk UK Weekend Plan, Talk UK Evening & Weekend Plan, and Talk UK Anytime Plan. If you have an older package with us, you can call our sales team to get your tariff switched over, free of charge.
As part of the price changes I mentioned in my post, the price of the old T2i package is increasing from £5.89 to £6.49, but if you move to our Essentials package - which gives you phone and broadband - you will still only pay £6.49 per month, excluding line rental, and you will get the free local calls anytime added automatically. In fact we think our Essentials and our voice-only packages offer unbeatable value, and with boosts you're able to tailor your Essentials package to your own needs.
Please call our sales team on 0800 049 7802 to upgrade your plan and to make sure you can benefit from free local calls anytime.
