Andrew HeaneyAndrew HeaneyTalkTalk launches Don’t Disconnect Us campaign site

We’ve blogged more than once before on just why the Government’s proposals to crack down on filesharing are so hopelessly misguided and I make no apology for doing so again.

There are plenty of other people who agree with us and oppose Lord Mandelson’s plans – including consumer rights organisations and MPs. We hope to provide a single online forum which draws all that opposition together.

That’s why we’ve launched Don’t Disconnect Us – a website designed to act as a news and information source on the Government’s proposals, a forum for people to air their views, and a focus for the campaign to ensure the proposals never become law. Please have a look at the site and let us know your view.

Even better – if you agree with our point of view – why not sign our Number 10 petition so Gordon Brown and Peter Mandelson hear your opinions loud and clear?

Of course, we want to have a full and frank exchange of views, so we’re also happy to hear from people who think we’re wrong. You can leave your messages and comments on the site here.

We’re absolutely serious when we say that the Government’s filesharing plans will put millions of innocent people at risk of being thrown off the internet, despite them doing nothing wrong. Last week we showed how easy it was.

This is a serious issue that threatens the liberty of millions and would overturn the laws of natural justice. We urge you to have your say on the site and make sure the Government can’t ignore our opposition.
