Wendy Becker

Managing Director, TalkTalk Group

Wendy Becker has been Managing Director of TalkTalk Group since February 2008. Prior to that Wendy was a Partner at McKinsey in London for 10 years where she led a substantial consulting team specialising in various consumer markets.

An American by birth and education, she lives with her family in West London and has recently been appointed to the Executive Board of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS), a body created by the Government and led by Dr Tanya Byron, the leading psychologist and child safety expert.

1 Welcoming Tiscali UK to the TalkTalk Group

Today is a milestone in the history of TalkTalk. We’ve formally completed the acquisition of Tiscali UK, first announced in May, making us the biggest provider of broadband to Britain’s homes. We now reach over 4 million people – a fantastic achievement as we’ve only been concentrating on the broadband market since 2006.

Yesterday Ben Bradshaw, the Culture Secretary, presented the Government’s vision for a Digital Britain. It follows the Interim Report, which we responded to earlier in the year.

3 Your questions answered about the Tiscali deal

Last week we announced our intention to purchase Tiscali to make TalkTalk the leading home phone and broadband company. It’s been quite a week for everyone involved and we remain just as excited about welcoming Tiscali to the TalkTalk family. While it has helped reassure Tiscali customers about the immediate future of their broadband service, it has understandably led to people wanting to know more about what happens next.

It might come as a surprise to some people, but 70% of all the UK calls our customers make are to local numbers. So we’ve recently reviewed our pricing to reflect this and give our customers a better deal.

Lord Carter has recently put out his interim report on Digital Britain. It’s good to see our country’s leaders acknowledging the important role that digital technologies and particularly broadband play in developing a competitive and successful Britain.
