Interesting statistics in this article, thanks for sharing. It doesn't surprise me that internet usage has grown for this age group, and rapidly. My dad uses your service and it's his lifeline to the world. It's also quick to email and so much easier to keep in contact with people, especially their loved ones who have moved away. My mother in law's daughter is in Australia and she regularly uses SKYPE to talk to her daughter and her children, it makes so much difference. Let's hope that more silver surfers get online because it's such a great thing for them to use.

When BT was a publicly owned entity, there could be an argument for a monopoly like position, after all it was a national interest, however BT has been private for a great many years, and so it should be compulsory for BT to share ducts, poles and any other infrastructure needed for any willing supplier to enter the telecom market.

I would also argue that as BT are already being given a large cash sum to fund some of this new infrastructure, that it would be morally wrong for them to hold out that they have 'ownership' of those assets paid for from the public purse.

I would think this is a very good idea as most of our clients are over 55 and are often targeted by criminals wishing to blackmail money from them. More should be done for the elderly as they are not all afraid of the internet and use it for day to day tasks. I hear this all the time..

We entered the digital heroes 2011 but haven't had any confirmation to say that the application was received. There is no contact details on http://www.talktalk.co.uk/digitalheroes/ so this is the only way to find out if our application was recieved.
We nominated Andy Moseley for his work as part of Edible Landscapes Movement (ELM). I was the contact: Misty Tunks and work for Knowle West Media Centre.
