Music to your ears . . .

Today is my first opportunity to blog in my role as senior director of media services at TalkTalk, and what better way to kick things off than to talk about one of my great passions, and I’m sure one of yours too – music. I caught the bug back in my teenage years, my first ever live gig was The Scorpions and the first LP I bought was Devo. Thankfully my musical taste has evolved and I now have a collection of over 2000 CDs and 17,448 tracks on my iPod!

TalkTalk announces sponsorship of The X Factor

We’re delighted to announce that TalkTalk has signed as main sponsor to The X Factor. As I’m sure you can imagine, we’re pretty excited to be involved. With the show about to go into its sixth series, few could argue that it’s one of the television events of the year, and this year promises to be bigger than ever.

The YouTube row

I’m sure you’ve heard over the past couple of days that music videos are being removed from YouTube.

This is all because of a row between Google (which owns YouTube) and the Performing Rights Society (previously MCPS–PRS Alliance), the organisation which licenses music and collects royalties on behalf of musicians. This is bound to affect TalkTalk customers, who we know love YouTube, so no doubt many of you will be missing your favourite music. What underlies this row that affects the enjoyment of so many people?
